Newsletter November 3rd 2022

Riverside Yarns instructor Joan Spence leading her 'Learn to Knit: Socks on 2 Circulars" in-store class.

As we head straight into sweater weather and frantic Holiday crafting, we want to share some exciting happenings at Riverside Yarns, all coming to us from our wonderfully supportive crafting community.

With the generosity of two local crafters we’ve been able to put together a free lending library. Books can be borrowed for up to one month, and magazines are available for in-store perusal. We’re calling it the ‘Gerlinda Sidla-Melanie Merswolke Lending Library.” We thank these inspiring women for their thoughtful donation, and for the support they give to their community. Thank you also to Marie Donovan for her help putting it all together.

And yes, it’s finally happening again!  We are so thrilled to welcome knitters, crocheters, and stitchers of all kinds to our Thursday evening Sit ’n’ Stitch.  Every Thursday evening from 6pm-8pm, we sit around the table at Riverside Yarns and share tips, tricks, and a good laugh. It’s fun, it’s inspirational, and we love it.  We’re running until December 22nd, and we ask that you wear a mask and consider leaving a small donation and/or personal care product for those in need.  With your help, we'll be supporting Safe n Sound Grey Bruce (
https://safensoundgreybruce.ca/) and Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce (https://welcominggreybruce.ca/).

And finally, our summer fundraiser in support of the Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory (https://bpbo.ca/will allow us to send $108 to help preserve local birdlife. We sold 54 skeins of Songbird 80/20 Sock!  Thanks to all the sock makers out there - may the birds on your feet help you to soar.

We are fortunate to live and work with all of you.
