Say hello to Festivity, a sweet new hand-dyed yarn from Sugar Bush Yarns
We can't believe how vibrant the colours are in this new line from our friends at Sugar Bush Yarns. It's a lovely DK weight, perfect for stylish slouch hats and cosy but not-too-heavy shawls and wraps. And Sugar Bush has once again put the fun into knitting and crocheting by having a colour for every month of the year. In January we have Ice Castles, February is Northern Lights and May is, of course, Campfires. You could put a fun gift pack together for the knitter on your list, choosing colours that reflect special times of the year.

Introducing the Riverside Project Bag
We're thrilled to be working with local artist Monique Stewart, who created the Riverside Project Bag for us. Monique uses upcycled fabric and creates her own prints so that each bag is one-of-a-kind. Through her studio, Stone Tree Water, Monique creates original handmade textile art using block prints, hand stitching and felt work.
These nifty project bags range in price from $36 to $44, and are only available in the store.
BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS
Browse our selection of Pom Pom, Laine Magazine, By Hand Serial, Amirisu and Making Stories magazines. We also have copies of Strange Brew by Tin Can Knits, Melanie Berg's Shawls, Knits About Winter by Emily Foden and one copy of The Vintage Shetland Project by Susan Crawford. Other books include Take Heart, Interpretations, Knit How and three other Making Stories books.
Moonlight Madness
Friday, November 15
to 8 PM
Have you seen the full moon this week? We're not sure who arranged that, but it has come out just in time for Downtown Owen Sound's Moonlight Madness. We'll be hosting a knit night, and we're so excited to be having our local dyer, Rhichard Devrieze, in the store. Stop by between 6 and 8 PM for some tea and treats, and a chance to knit/crochet and talk yarn with someone who knows his stuff.
Every Third Thursday Sale
We'll be offering all our tools at 20% off this coming Thursday, November 21. The sale is in-store only, and the discount applies to all wool winders, swifts, yarn butlers, needles and hooks, yarn bowls and all needle sets.
Are you ready to learn something new? We have two great classes lined up to introduce you to new skills, and to help you perfect the techniques you already know.
Thurs. Nov. 28 Felted Slippers
6 to 8 PM
$15 + materials
We all need some cosiness in our lives. In this two-hour class, Jeffi will get you started on a pair of cosy felted slippers. This pattern calls for two skeins of Cascade 220 and some buttons. We ask that you purchase materials for this class at the store, and you will receive a 15% discount.
Thurs. Dec. 12 Skyfall Hat
6 to 8 PM
$55 for kit and lesson, all taxes included
In this two-hour class you'll learn how to knit a hat using magic loop, and how to do two-colour stranded knitting. We will provide you with a pattern, yarn and pom pom, but you'll have to supply your own needles.
Knit and Crochet Project Support
Sat. Nov. 23 to Sat. Dec. 14Join Jeffi from 10-12 Saturday Nov. 23 to Saturday Dec. 14 if you want some help, and time, to finish a project or practice a new technique with guidance. The four-week session costs $60 +HST.
For more details about any of these classes and to register, please stop in at the store or call 519-371-4311. Classes are limited to six students, and we will need at least three participants per class.
Our drop-in knit/crochet sessions have been pretty lively this fall, and we're loving it. We invite all yarn enthusiasts to stop by, show off your WIP, and get some inspiration from fellow makers on Saturdays and Tuesdays from 1-3 PM, and Thursdays from 6-8 PM. It's like a nice group hug.
