Love is in the air ...

... and on the crochet hooks and knitting needles

Us knitters and crocheters, we don't save up our love for one day in the depths of winter. We are making for friends, family, and people we may never meet every day of the year. There is love in every stitch. Yes, there are days when you think you'll never get off sleeve island. You're eyeing up your tiny ball of sock yarn, hoping there's enough to just finish this pair. You're tossing all your sofa cushions across the room because you've lost that one hook and the store's closed until Tuesday.

But you never give up hope, because every time your best friend wears the socks you knit for her three years ago, she sends you a text with heart emojis. You have a photo of your niece and her baby, who live three provinces away, tucked in your knitting basket. The darling babe looks adorable in the wee sweater you knit for her. Your sister keeps 'your' crochet blanket on her special chair by the window year round. Your life partner wears that itchy scarf, one of your early projects, without complaint. That's where the love is, my friends.

Happy Valentine's Day

Little Hearts, designed by Susan B Anderson, is available for free! Find it in the Barrett Wool Co Journal. and on Ravelry.

It's still sweater weather in Ontario. We're embracing it with the lovely Celtic Aran by Tivoli Spinners. This 100 % merino Superwash is the perfect yarn for warm cosy sweaters with lots of texture (and love). Each 100g ball packs 150m and sells for $11.99.

We love it when folks come in to show off their finished projects. In the top photo, Deb Stewart used Sirdar Jewelspun for this classic relaxed sweater. Barbara Smith, left, chose to make her cosy sweater in Cascade 220. Vera Gascon, right, picked up some Cascade Heritage Sock Solids to finish the bird motif on her lovely sweater.

A cowl never goes out of style, and certainly not one designed by Andrea Mowry.  Josette did this up in Rhichard Devrieze's Sirocco, a DK-weight 100% superwash merino, using about half a skein each of Visions of Paradise, Softly and Strawberry Finches. If you're a bit more ambitious, you should check out Andrea Mowry's delightful shawl, Find your Fade. And hey, why not knit it up with some of Rhichard's Peppino, a colourful 100% merino fingering weight yarn. We've brought in a great splash of colours, including mini-skeins to add pop to any project.

We can't get enough of these mini-skeins by Rhichard Devrieze. They're all done up in Peppino, and the colours from left to right are Lemony Prickles, Bonfire, Lanterns, and Hugs. The full skeins are, from top to bottom, Honey on the Go, The Times, and Country Casual.

We're gearing up for our Every Third Thursday Sale, this coming Thursday, Feb. 20. This month we're putting all our Patons Yarns on sale at 20% off. Come in and stock up on great sweater, blanket, and sock yarns. The sale is in-store only.
We have fallen head over heels for the colour of this Painted Sky from Knitting Fever. We've brought in eight colours of this worsted 100% Australian wool, and at $15.00 for 200m we think it's good value. And because it's always sock-knitting season, we've brought in six colours of Painted Sock. Same saturated colours as the Painted Sky, and in a great twin format.
