Knitting winter wear just got a lot more exciting with these merino/alpaca/ llama blends from Illimani. Introducing Amelie, Santi and Royal, just three of the delightful yarns sourced from independent spinners and dyers from Bolivia and Peru.

Illimani is a Montreal-based company that for almost two decades was known for its collection of ready-to-wear alpaca and llama wool apparel hand-made by artisans in Bolivia. Recently the company changed gears and now works with spinners and dyers in Bolivia and Peru to bring the finest alpaca and llama fibres to knitters and crocheters across North America. They also support international aid organizations that are helping artisans in the Bolivian and Peruvian Andes to commercialize their products for North American markets.

Don't get your tinsel in a twist!
We have kits for all knitting levels and styles.
Our friends at Sweet Paprika have put together some adorable kits for the gifting season. Each kit includes a pattern and enough wool for the project, so no guessing and no need to buy full skeins.
Fish in the Sea ($41.95) includes enough wool for either an adult or child's pair of mittens in DK weight wool.
Frost and Twilight Mittens ($44.95) are knit using a simple four row slip-stitch pattern that creates a thick and warm fabric. They are are sized for both children and adults.
Transposition scarf ($59.95) is a great project for your first foray into double knitting. Worked in worsted weight yarn, this reversible scarf will keep you warm and cozy.
Winter Sonata ($74.95) This hat and mitten set is a good introduction to using more than one colour at a time, and the pattern is appropriate for men and women. Several charts are given allowing you to pick and choose your favourites or design your own.

We have a good selection of Rhichard Devrieze's Raising the Bar Cocktail Shawl Kits available. Each kit includes the pattern, enough of Rhichard's lovely yarn for the project, and some nifty cocktail accessories. At $69.99 these are a great value. Cheers!

We're going back to basics, and introducing more advanced knitting techniques.

We'll be offering Crochet Basics on Mondays from 6 to 8 PM, starting Jan. 13, and Knit Basics on Saturdays from 10 AM to 12 PM starting Jan. 18. These four-week sessions are designed for beginners and those who already have a project on the go and need some coaching. We will help you understand the techniques you need to know to complete a simple project.
The cost is $67.80, taxes included, for the 4-week session.

For more advanced knitters, we are offering two fun projects on Thursday evenings, from 6-8:

Learn to knit mittens with a colour-work option

Jan. 30 & Feb. 6
Learn to knit socks two at a time

For these sessions, knitters will need to come to the store ahead of time to choose their materials and prepare their skeins. We will not be able to wind the wool into balls for these projects during class time. Cost is $33.90, taxes included.
