DESCRIPTION

A laceweight blend of 70% baby alpaca and 30% mulberry silk, hand-dyed in Peru in Malabrigo's characteristically rich, tonal colourways. The silk gives it a smooth, almost sleek feel with a quiet luminous sheen, while the alpaca adds softness and warmth. It is quite different from a fluffy mohair-type laceweight, the fabric it creates is delicate and drapey with excellent stitch definition and just a whisper of halo. Despite being Malabrigo's thinnest yarn it is plied and surprisingly sturdy, which makes it more pleasant to work with than a lot of laceweight.

Project ideas: lace shawls, lightweight wraps, scarves, held with fingering or other weights for garments, heirloom pieces
