Dear friends,
As the Canadian government, public health experts, and social agencies continue to deal with the uncertainty and stress of the COVID-19 pandemic, small business owners are doing the best they can to respond to this evolving situation.
We want to provide you with the tools and inspiration you need to create and be at peace, but we want to do this is a responsible manner. Therefore, beginning March 17, Cathy will be at the store from noon to 5 PM Tuesday to Saturday, but the store will remain closed. We will gladly take call-in orders and online orders through www.riversideyarns.ca. We are happy to offer free same-day delivery within the Owen Sound city limits. For these orders, please choose 'in-store pick up' on our website, and call the store to leave your address. We have also lowered our shipping rate to a flat fee of $10, and all orders over $200 will ship for free.
This closure means our knit/crochet sessions are suspended and we are also postponing our upcoming class sessions.
In difficult times, community can bring a lot of comfort. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to keep you knitting and crocheting. Better times are certainly ahead of us and we look forward to seeing you then.

If you're at home and feeling like you're out of the loop, give Ravelry a try. This online resource for knitters and crocheters can link you to friends near and far. You can see what other people are working on and keep up to date with your favourite designers and yarn producers.
Riverside Yarns has a Ravelry page, and we have several discussions going right now. I have just added a discussion thread - Stash Busting. Share your ideas! Post some photos! I've also noticed recent activity on our "What's Everyone Knitting?" thread. This is an easy and fun way to show off our finished objects. As well, our latest knit-along thread is seeing some activity as knitters finish up their Ash and Fire pullovers. Please look us up at ravelry.com

Don't be afraid to reach out and join other Ravelry groups. Be inspired, inspire someone else, make friends. This is what knitters and crocheters do best.
Who doesn't need a little lightness right about now? We're thrilled to be carrying Soft Silk, a new Sport/ DK-weight line from the Danish yarn company BC Garn. This incredibly soft and rustic bourette silk is so versatile and easy to work with. And we all know that silk is both warm in winter and cooling on a hot summer day. We have eight colours to choose from, and it sells for $25 for a 350m skein.

We asked Johanna Brown to knit up 'Jane' by French designer Mlle Petronille. It really shows off how well this yarn drapes. The top is designed with 20 cm of positive ease, which gives it a loose-fitting and simple look. It's a classic and so easy to pair with jeans or a light summer skirt.

Treat yourself with some summer knitting!

We've fallen for mini-skeins! These little treats are an easy way to add a pop of colour to a project. We can't get enough of the 50-yd minis that Rhichard Devrieze has whipped up in his fingering-weight Peppino for $4.50 each.
We also have 80/20 sock minis from Lichen and Lace at $7.00 for 67m. And say 'Hola' to our sweet little  Bocados from Manos del Uruguay. The name is Spanish for "little bites," a perfect descriptor for these 25g skeins of worsted-weight Alegria Grande, which sell for $8.00 each.

When the going gets tough, knit socks. We're patiently waiting on a shipment of Opal Sock yarns. We're going to have great colour choices in these fun 100g/420m balls. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook  page for updates.
Two of our knitters tackled the Dissymmetry Cowl by Elizabeth Sullivan of Sweet Paprika Designs. Marilyn Mutch (left) did hers in Cascade 128 Superwash, while Donna Cruickshank chose Sweet Paprika's Presto. Great work ladies!

Riverside Yarns will be closed Tuesday March 31 for our fiscal year-end inventory count.
